The 2017-2018 school year marked Stan Torzewski’s 15th year in education. As a KY Teacher Fellow, he worked to enhance teacher leadership and student empowerment. Stan was co-lead on an Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teachers and Teaching (ECET2) conference for Jefferson County Public School educators, which more than 250 JCPS teachers attended. In 2015 Stan founded LIFT (Learn Invest Friend Teach), a movement focused on supporting student empowerment. JCPS LIFTer examples of activism include interviews with Kentucky state senators, speaking at education funding rallies, developing social justice documentaries and mentoring at risk youth.
Stan lives in Goshen, Kentucky with his wife Julie and their three children.
