Kristen Brummel joins Hope Street Group with 15 years of experience in Hawaii’s Department of Education as an Elementary Teacher, Mentor, Instructional Coach, Presenter, and Complex Area Induction and Mentoring Program Coordinator.


She is a National Board Certified Teacher, a 2014-2016 Hawaii Hope Street Group Fellow and was the 2011 Hawaii State Teacher of the Year. Kristen has helped lead the Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teachers and Teaching (ECET2) conference movement in Hawaii, and has served on committees such as Hawaii’s Teacher Leader Workgroup, the Great Teachers Great Leaders Task Force, and the Teacher Education Committee for Elementary and Early Childhood with the goals of learning from others and bringing a teacher’s voice to the conversation.


She is committed to supporting teachers as they grow their practice, build networks, develop as leaders, and strengthen public education for the children of Hawaii. Kristen received her BA and MA degree in Elementary Education from the University of Hawaii, and resides in Honolulu with her husband and two children.
