Is the American Dream fading?

With the current economy and the looming predictions ahead, I can't help but worry about the fading of the American Dream.  Even before the current state the American Dream was starting to disappear.  No longer is it true that if you work hard enough, you will obtain it.

Yesterday, a report announced that consumers are feeling worse about their personal finances as well as the overall economy.  Families who make a good living now more than ever feel strapped to meet the rising food and gas prices.  It is not just summer vacations being elimated from the budget to make ends meet, but 401 k plans, college tuition funds and other necessary savings that are being put on hold.   You have to wonder that if the middle class feels this way then what about the lower income class?  What are they left with?

The next administration has some serious economic overhaul to do to transform America's situation.  Many reforms from savings to homeownership to healthcare have to be implemented for people to feel secure again.  I do believe there will be some tough times in the next year, but I believe in the prospect of the American Dream and bringing back the reality of attaining it.
