Connecting the Dots: Education, Skills and US Economic Renewal
October 24, 2012 @ 8:00 am - 10:30 am
The morning event, hosted by McNally Capital, included a panel followed by an interactive conversation focused on identifying the barriers that hinder so many of our young adults to be college and career ready. The audience, which included education stakeholders, including teachers, principals, and founders of charters schools, and business/private sector professionals, then narrowed down these barriers for the problem solving portion of the session on how to propel student engagement. The solutions, set against a backdrop of shared goals, included a variety of well thought out suggestions. These suggestions included providing students with the opportunity of seeing themselves as an active participant of society, the necessity of having a great administrator in every school, providing teachers more access to data, and shifting the classroom and teacher experience to more of a collaborative process – all where students feel they have ownership.
